The Process Technology Group was formed to keep pace with the changing demands in the marketplace. In recent years, Magnesita personnel have become more actively involved in advising customers' steel making processes. The aim is to provide a service, where problems or opportunities of the customer can be addressed at a higher technical level, all the way from scrap yard to caster.

Don Griffin
Don graduated from Virginia Tech with an BS in Ceramic Engineering and an MS in Materials Engineering. He has worked for LWB Refractories since 1980 and has held various positions in Research and Development, Production, and Technical Marketing. He has a strong technical background with regard to the fundamentals of basic refractories and their application to steelmaking processes.
Rob Nunnington
Rob graduated from Hallam University in 1981, and then left for a career in metallurgical engineering with the Council for Mineral Technology in South Africa. This background in Research in the stainless steel and ferrochromium industry led him to join Columbus Stainless (formerly Middelburg Steel and Alloys) in 1990, before joining LWB in 1999. His main area of interest is application of fundamental principles and applied research to develop and improve steelmaking practices. Rob has 4 international patents pertaining to stainless steel and ferrochromium production to his credit. He is also an internationally published wildlife photographer.
Graham Watson
Graham graduated with an H.N.C. in chemistry and then studied ceramics technology with the Institute of Ceramics. He worked for 23 years at British Steel Corp. as a Technician and Research Officer in their Refractories Research and Development department. After joining LWB's UK division in 1991, he worked as a Technical Service Engineer, Stainless Market Manager for Europe and South Africa, and Technical Marketing Manager for carbon and stainless accounts in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Graham joined the group in 2007, bringing his expertise and many years of technical experience to the group.
Bill Boesen
Bill was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. from 1961 through 1991. He held various supervisory positions including Blooming Mill Mgr. and EAF Melt Shop Mgr. Bill has been employed by LWB Refractories since 1991. The first five years were in sales and the rest have been in the Process Technology Group.
Shane Cox
Shane joined LWB and the Process Technology Group in April of 2004 as a software engineer, using his previous experience in integration, internet, and applications development to manage the group's website and model development. Shane's strong mathematical, process modeling, and background in metallurgy and chemistry are a perfect match for designing, developing, and maintaining the Process Technology Group's scientific applications.
